What is Citizens First Bank doing?
Citizens First Bank prepares for events like a pandemic, and we are putting our plans into action. We are increasing cleaning and sanitizing public spaces and have provided hand sanitizer for customers to use in all our branches.
Our staff has been educated on hygiene best practices and directed to stay home if they are not feeling well or believe they may have been exposed. We are taking this very seriously and encourage you to do the same.
We will continue to monitor CDC advice and follow the recommendations of local and state authorities. We urge you to do the same.
We also ask you to be on alert for scammers and ID thieves trying to exploit fear and uncertainty. Remember – if you receive any call, text or email asking for your social security number or any account number, it’s a scam.
Scam Warning
The coronavirus phishing scam is where a fraudster fakes an email from a public health organization offering advice about COVID-19. The emails appear to be from legitimate sources, such as:
- The World Health Organization (WHO)
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
- University and college health services
The messages offer information about the coronavirus to get you to provide your personal information or download malware (malicious software). Protect your business by reading your emails carefully and watch out for these red flags:
- Check the subject header and domain name for errors.
- Look for spelling and grammar mistakes.
- Before clicking links, hover over them to confirm they are legitimate.
- Don’t respond to companies or people you don’t know.
- Never give out personal information through email.
This scam was originally reported by BMO Harris Bank.
